Tehran Says It Might Return to US Atomic Negotiations if Treated with 'Dignity' and 'Honor'
Tehran is ready to resume atomic negotiations with Washington provided that it is treated with "respect" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has stated.
Abbas Araghchi declared solely negotiations was effective, and revealed new appeals had been made by mediators to resume talks with the US government. He claimed Iran did not have undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran was not yet able to authorize the global atomic watchdog to inspect attacked atomic facilities for protective measures.
Navigating a Complex Course
Araghchi is treading a difficult path since Iran wishes not to appear to be proceeding from a stance of vulnerability, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out more powerful in military terms and mentally from the joint assault on its nuclear sites in June.
He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reiterated that Iran had "a fundamental entitlement to enrich uranium on home soil that it will always maintain" – the key factor of the deadlock in the earlier negotiations.
Earlier Talks Suddenly Concluded
The earlier sessions of discussions between the US and Iran were ended suddenly and bitter conclusion on 12 June when the Israeli government, with American backing, targeted Iranian nuclear sites in a 12-day war that culminated with the US president asserting the locations had been eliminated. Following this, EU nations employed their authority to restore global restrictions, but Iran insists they have not had a major impact.
Magic Solution Offered
Iran's diplomats said they felt they had reached a "ideal resolution" to the nuclear fuel concern in previous talks, when it was agreed an domestic cooperative with Washington's engagement could enrich uranium. The two nations would have been able to declare success since home-based processing would have remained and the US could be confident that Iran's atomic project was solely for peaceful purposes.
It had not been decided in the negotiations that US nuclear scientists could function within Iranian territory, but that was a logical implication of the consortium proposal. Diplomats asserted repeatedly they had secured an understanding with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff only for the agreement to collapse due to "opponents in the US".
Existing Situation
Tehran representatives stated the cooperative arrangement was now withdrawn, but it seems highly likely the offer could be reintroduced in certain ways if discussions resume.
The US president last week stated he had been obtaining communications that Iran sought to reopen negotiations, but privately Iranian officials state they are not yet getting consistent overtures from Washington either directly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as Qatar, Egypt, the Omani authorities and the Saudi kingdom. The Iran's state department has been charged of non-responsiveness in the wake of Trump's direct instinctive approach, but Tehran says negotiations is not part of a spectacle.
Negotiating Standpoint
In his speech to the gathering, designed to portray the US as a controlling nation that misuses the concept of worldwide standards, Araghchi stated the two-week conflict demonstrated the dispute could not be resolved by armed force. He asserted the strikes began with a Washington's ultimatum for an complete Tehran capitulation and culminated with an absolute demand for a truce.
Iran is certain the opening assaults from Tel Aviv were executed with complete American awareness and coordination, making faith hard to reestablish.
Diplomacy Remains the Ultimate Answer
Araghchi stated: "Tehran was not the one that had abandoned negotiations; it was the United States and the European states that had repeatedly tried to impose their demands during the negotiations. Negotiations can still be alive and continues the primary resolution to settle conflicts, but its requirements, guidelines and principles must be adhered to."
"If they talk to the citizens of Tehran with the language of respect and honor, they will get a reply in the identical language."
Repair and Rebuilding
In what is portrayed by Iran's diplomats as the conflict of restoration and rebuilding, the foreign minister claimed he was assured Iran's defence capabilities "are much stronger than preceding 13 or 14 June of this year. All our capabilities have been rebuilt. We acquired many lessons from this conflict; we have identified our personal limitations and the shortcomings of the opponent."
He stated: "We effectively endured this engagement. Our enrichment knowledge, which they planned to destroy, continues to exist. The sites and machinery, if damaged, will be rebuilt; what is crucial is the resolve of the citizens of Tehran and then the social solidarity that they sought to undermine, but were unable to break. The Iranian people have become more powerful, more integrated, and more endorsing of the administration and the country in the aftermath of this assault."
