The world is facing challenges, but a sense of hope remains. A fresh honor originating at the science, music and arts festival the Starmus festival aims to motivate individuals to act.

The medal is to be awarded to pay tribute to the esteemed British primatologist who passed away recently. It will recognise individuals and groups that champion our planet's biodiversity.

Initial honorees are expected to be announced at the Starmus VIII festival in the Canary Islands, which will run from October 17th to 22nd the coming year.

It was shared that Goodall, who was a Starmus advisory board member, had backed the award’s creation. “The vision of having this award, and the festival being tasked to oversee it, is Jane’s,” a statement said. “She said she would like for this to occur.
